Of English origin, Avie Soldani has been painting in watercolour for over twenty years. Her subjects are invariably old and worn: she delights in highlighting the poetry of simple things and the discreet beauty of ordinary subjects, such as a door, a shuttered window, or aged fishing boats. They have lived and bear the marks of time's passage. Through her works, she expresses the notion that 'Old is beautiful'. She uses 100% cotton fine‑grain paper and Daniel Smith or Winsor & Newton watercolours, transparent pigments that often granulate.
